Benedict Named 2002 GAM Women's Player of the Year

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's golf captain Kim Benedict (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams HS) has been named the 2002 Golf Association of Michigan Women's Player of the Year after taking home medalist honors at the 2002 GAM Women's Championship this past summer.

Benedict also won the GAM Women's Championship trophy after in 1999. She placed third in 2001 and fourth in 2000.
Through five events in her senior season, Benedict is second on the Wolverine team in scoring average with 77.06 strokes per round. Her top finish of the fall season was a fifth-place showing at the Lady Northern Invitational (Sept. 28-29) in Iowa City, Iowa.
The Maize and Blue will not return to action until the spring season begins in mid-February when the Wolverines head to the prestigious TRW Regional Challenge (Feb. 10-12) at Palos Verdes Golf Club in Palo Verdes, Calif.
