The victory over MTU snapped Michigan's two-game losing streak.
Michigan has won five of the last six games at Joe Louis Arena, including three straight.
Michigan regained the achievement of being the winningest team at the GLI. Coming into tonight's game the Wolverines and Huskies were tied with 38 wins apiece.
Michigan reached the GLI championship game for the first time since 1999.
U-M's non-conference record is 6-1 so far this season. Its final non-CCHA opponent of the regular season will be Boston University tomorrow night in the GLI championship game.
Michigan's three power-play goals mark a season high. U-M has scored at least one goal while on the man advantage in eight of its last nine games.

Al Montoya registered his first career penalty in the second period.
Danny Richmond leads all U-M rearguards in assists with nine.
Jeff Tambellini, Michigan's leading goal scorer with nine, notched his third goal in the past five games.
Brandon Rogers has a career high three goals this season, including two in the last four games. Rogers recorded 1-1-2 totals, marking a career high for points in a game.
Milan Gajic's assist snapped his three-game scoreless streak.
Andrew Ebbett has a point in each of the last two games and in three of the past four (1-2-3).
