Carr Announces Hiring of Loeffler as Quarterback Coach

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan head football coach Lloyd Carr announced Tuesday (Feb. 12) the hiring of Scot Loeffler as the quarterback coach for the Wolverines. Loeffler served as the quarterback coach for former Wolverine assistant Mike DeBord at Central Michigan University the past two seasons (2000-01).
A native of Barberton, Ohio, Loeffler, 27, was a five-year member of the Wolverine football program (1993-97). He earned a varsity letter as a student coach on Michigan's 1997 Big Ten and national championship team. Early is his Wolverine career he served as the primary backup to quarterback Todd Collins, but Loeffler suffered a shoulder injury that cost him his playing career.

Loeffler served as a graduate assistant at Michigan in 1998 and 1999 with day-to-day responsibilities with the offense as well as handling the scout team offense during practice sessions. While at Michigan, Loeffler helped coach future NFL quarterbacks Brian Griese (Denver Broncos), Scott Dreisbach (Oakland Raiders/Detroit Lions) and Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady (New England Patriots).
Loeffler earned a Bachelor of Science degree in history and political science from the College of Literature, Science and the Arts at Michigan in 1998.
