Brabbs, who kicked the game-winning 44-yard field goal as time expired, was named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week and Perry, who rushed for 120 yards and scored three touchdowns, was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.
After missing his first two field goals, Brabbs collected his first career field goal, hitting it right down the middle for the win as time expired to give Michigan its 31-29 win. Brabbs, who put four of his five kickoffs inside the 10-yard line and two in the end zone for touchbacks, capped off the nine-play, 57-second scoring drive with the winning boot from 44 yards. Brabbs collected a pair of PATs for five points in the win for the first scoring of his Michigan career.
Perry rushed 23 times for a career-high 120 yards and scored three rushing touchdowns in the opener to give Michigan leads of 7-0, 21-20 and 28-23. It marked the first time a Wolverine had rushed for three scores since Anthony Thomas ran for three TDs at Northwestern in 2000.
Perry opened the scoring for the Wolverines in 2002 with a career-best 57-yard TD burst on Michigan's second offensive play of the season. His other TD runs were two yards in the third quarter and three yards in the fourth quarter. With his 120 yards, the second 100-yard rushing game of his career, Perry reached the 1,000-yard plateau in career rushing. He has 1,032 yards and 10 rushing TDs as a Wolverine.
The Wolverines (1-0), ranked seventh in the latest ESPN/USA Today and Associated Press polls (Sept. 2), host Western Michigan (1-0) in a non-conference game Saturday (Sept. 7, 12:10 p.m.) on ESPN Regional.
