The Wolverines built a quick two-goal lead with Crumpton's first two goals just a minute apart in the first half. Moving the ball through the midfield, freshman Stephanie Boyles (Arvada, Colo./Pomona HS) knocked a pass out to the right flank for midfielder Michele Pesiri (New Hyde Park, N.Y./Sacred Heart HS). Pesiri then crossed the ball into the box, where Crumpton was able to collect the ball, turn and send it into the net 18 minutes into the game.
Senior defender Amy Sullivant (Utica, Mich./Eisenhower HS) notched her fourth assist in the Maize and Blue's last two games with a long pass out of the back into Crumpton's diagonal run at 18:31. Crumpton slid the shot past Conway for her second goal and the 2-0 Michigan lead.
The Badgers battled back with six shots in the second half. Junior midfielder Jenny Kundert got Wisconsin on the board with her goal at 53:55. Michigan goalkeeper Suzie Grech (Narberth, Pa./The Shipley School) made two saves for her eighth win of the season.
Michigan travels to Minneapolis, Minn., Sunday (Sept. 29) for a 1 p.m. CDT Big Ten contest against Minnesota.

Q U O T E S
U-M Head Coach Debbie Rademacher
On the game ... "It was an interesting game because we dominated play in the first half, but they came out in the second half and really made us work to keep up. In the end, shots and opportunities were pretty much equal. It was really Abby's (Crumpton) night tonight."
On winning in Madison for the first time ... "We've never won at Wisconsin before, so that was a big step for our program, getting that first win on their turf. They're a good, physical team. Jenny Kundert is very good player and caused a lot of problems for us."
On gaining momentum on the road ... "It's a good win for us. It gives us a lot of confidence right now. We were very comfortable playing at home, and now to clear that first hurdle and get the first Big Ten road win is big."
N O T E S
Senior forward Abby Crumpton is one of just four players in U-M history who have recorded hat tricks, and she joins Kacy Beitel (1997-2000) as the second to have two career three-goal games. Crumpton's first hat trick came against Indiana Oct. 12, 2001.
After setting a season high with a five-point performance in Michigan's last game against Illinois (Sept. 22), Crumpton established a new mark with six points on three goals against the Badgers.
Crumpton had her second multi-goal game of the season and the eighth of her career, tying her with Amber Berendowsky (1996-99) for most career games with more than one goal.
Crumpton's game-winning goal was the 10th of her career, moving the senior into a tie for second place on Michigan's career list.
Prior to tonight's 3-2 win, Michigan was 0-4-1 when playing Wisconsin on their home turf in Madison, Wis. The win improves the Wolverines' record against the Badgers to 4-7-1.
