Heading into the 2002 Big Ten Championship Bruh had 11 helpers and was tied for the Michigan career assist lead with junior tri-captain Mike White (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS). During the tournament Bruh found White for a pair of game-winning goals and helped U-M reach the championship game for the first time in the varsity program's three-year existence.
Bruh joined a pair of Big Ten Conference athletes selected to the All-Freshmen teams, as Penn State's David Walters and conference Freshman of the Year Brian Plotkin of Indiana were named to the second team.
The Wolverines finished the season 11-7-2 with a 3-3 record in Big Ten action. Their 11 wins set a new school record by one and marked the third consecutive year the Maize and Blue improved its record from the previous year. U-M posted a mark of 6-10 its first season (2000) and 10-7-1 in its sophomore campaign (2001).
