Wolverine Trio Competes at Milwaukee Tennis Classic

Junior Anthony Jackson (Glendale, Wis./Nicolet HS) reached the third round in singles play after posting two consecutive victories over Marquette's Matt Mueller (6-1, 6-1) and Ohio State's Kevin McLean (6-2, ret.). Senior co-captain Chris Rolf (Midland, Mich./Midland HS) tallied his first singles win of the 2002-03 season with a 7-6, 6-5 triumph over Marquette's Creighton Macy in the first round of the consolation bracket. Sophomore Vinny Gossain (Okemos, Mich./Okemos HS) also picked up a win at the tournament, defeating Memphis' Brendan Malarkey in straight sets (6-4, 6-4) in the third round of the consolation play.
Michigan will begin its dual match season next week at the Varsity Tennis Center when it hosts Western Michigan on Saturday (Jan. 18) at 10 a.m. and DePaul on Sunday (Jan. 19) at noon.
