Riley Wins Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week Award

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Freshman goalkeeper Beth Riley (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra Area HS), a member of the University of Michigan field hockey team, was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Big Ten Conference, the league office announced Monday (Oct. 20).

Riley is the third Wolverine to be honored by the conference this season, as senior April Fronzoni (Larksville, Pa./Wyoming Valley West HS) was named co-Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 8 and senior Stephanie Johnson (Houston, Texas/The Kinkaid School) earned Defensive Player of the Week laurels on Sept. 15.
The Wolverines are on the road this week for matches at Old Dominion on Friday (Oct. 24, 7 p.m.) and at Ohio State on Sunday (Oct. 26, 1 p.m.).
