U-M Head Coach Kathy Teichert
On the Wolverine Invitational ... "I am very, very pleased with our outcome. Winning the Wolverine Invitational is a good thing. Any time you can win your own tournament, or any tournament, is a really outstanding achievement. It is going to help with our confidence, but at the same time there are still some things we need to do to improve our games and improve our team. We still need to take care of the small stuff."
On Laura Olin's performance ... "Laura played awesome today. I could not have asked her to shoot anything better. To have a round under par on our golf course is speaking very highly of Laura and her golf game. It shows how impressive she was and how impressive her game can be. She has the capabilities to do this all the time, that is what is special about Laura."
Junior Laura Olin
On her first collegiate title ... "It feels really good ... especially in our home tournament. This was definitely one of my goals coming into this year. I feel like a monkey has been lifted off my back. Now, I can go out there and hopefully win more tournaments."
On her record-setting third round ... "The third round was a lot of good par putts and a lot of missed birdie putts. I was hitting it really good. I made a couple of good up-and-downs near the end that helped. It was just really fun to play well in front of my family and my friends."
On playing her game this weekend ... "I just really tried to concentrate on my mental focus. I just really concentrated on every shot, every hole. I did not want to get ahead of myself. Things just seemed to work out well."
On Michigan's team title ... "I think this is just an uplifting experience for our team. I hope they now realize that this is what it takes. This is what winning is all about. It takes six players and six solid scores to put something like this together. This just gives our team a boost of confidence. My freshman year, when we won six tournaments, our first win was at the Wolverine Invitational. So I hope this is a good sign for things to come."
Sophomore Amy Schmucker
On her Wolverine Invitational ... "Personally I think I left a lot of shots on the golf course, but right now I cannot even think about that because I am so happy for the team. That is my main focus. This is my first win as a team at Michigan so that is really exciting."
On what the team win means to her ... "I think it a huge confidence boost. Now our focus is that we have gotten one. Now we can keep going and get another win out there on a course that is not our own. That might even be a bigger confidence boost for us."
Freshman Ali Stinson
On her performance this weekend ... "It was really fun, but I left a lot, a lot of shots out there. I did not play too well today or at the end of yesterday, but I think as long as I keep working hard things can get better. We won the team title and that means a lot. This can only help us continue to move forward. We just have to continue to work as hard as we can."
On what she has thought about her first three tournaments ... "I think the length of the courses have been a little longer than I am used to from junior golf, but I am getting used to it. I just want to keep improving each week."
