Last Week
The Wolverines were unable to increase their two-game winning streak last weekend, tying then No. 12-ranked Ohio State 1-1 in Columbus, Ohio before falling to then-No. 16-ranked Penn State 2-0 in State College, Pa. Michigan's Stephanie Chavez (Shorewood, Wis./Shorewood HS) scored her second goal of the season to help U-M to a tie against the Buckeyes on Friday (Oct. 3). On Sunday (Oct. 5), the Wolverines gave up one goal in each half and were outshot 20-2 in the loss to the Nittany Lions.
Morgan Out For the Season
Michigan suffered a major blow to its season when junior forward Kate Morgan (San Jose, Calif./Archbishop Mitty HS) went down with an injury against Penn State (Oct. 5). Morgan, U-M's leading point scorer (eight) broke her tibia and will be lost for the rest of the season. This marks Michigan's second season-ending injury of the season. In the Wolverines' exhibition match against North Carolina (Aug. 22), freshman forward Emily Kalmbach (Coto de Caza, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic HS) suffered a broken fibula, which ended her year.
Chavez Records 50th Career Point

In her fifth start of the season, Grech faced 12 shots on goal and made a season-best 10 saves on the day. Her career best is a 12-save effort in a 4-0 win over Minnesota back on Sept. 24, 2000. In 480 minutes in net this season, Grech has allowed 10 goals for a 1.88 GAA.
