Head coach Red Berenson
On the difference between games ... "I think we did a lot of good things tonight, particularly at the start. We scored our first shift of the game. We were mentally prepared. We were focused and played hard. They got back in the game with two goals. I thought we were playing well after the first period. In the second period that early goal was a flukey goal we had to get back. That power play gave us a chance, but their penalty killing overcame our power play."
On the five-minute power play in the second period ... "When you get a five-minute power play and we couldn't even get a good shot on net, that hurts your team's confidence. Particularly when you need to get a goal. You've got to hand it to their penalty killers. They blocked shots, they pressured the puck, they were well coached, well prepared and they shut us down. We didn't handle it well."
On the defense ... "We played solid defense most of the weekend. When we did break down they took advantage of it, particularly tonight.
Junior forward Eric Nystrom
On the quick goal ... "One of the keys to this game was a quick start and we had that, but the first goal doesn't make a game. They scored four goals quickly after that. We were down between periods 2-1 and come back they get a lucky one. Then we get a power play which has been good for us all year, but tonight it was non-existant."
On Ohio State ... "They played their game to a 'T'. They got up on us and they are a great defensive team. I think we had 47 shots butI don't know how many of those were grade 'A' chances. A lot of those were perimeter shots because they were keeping us to the outside. Hats off to them. They played a great game."
On the second intermission ... "College hockey is crazy. You can do down 4-1 and then score four unanswered goals in a period to come back and win the game. Everybody was saying, 'We can do this.' We tried to battle back but they just stymied us."
