Heaton Earns Academic Award; Cottrell a Top Freshman

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Sophomore forward Therese Heaton (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South HS) and freshman defender Lindsey Cottrell (Kalamazoo, Mich./Central HS) of the University of Michigan women's soccer team have been named to separate postseason honor squads.

Heaton has played in 19 games for U-M this season. She ranks fifth on the team in points, notching two goals and two assists for six points.
Cottrell was named to the Big Ten Conference All-Freshman Team, selected by the league coaches and announced Thursday (Nov. 5). Cottrell has been an integral part of a strong U-M defensive corps that has allowed just 21 goals in 20 games this season. Cottrell has started 18 games in the backfield in her first season with the Wolverines.
The Wolverines defeated Ohio State in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal round Thursday and will face host Wisconsin in the semifinals on Friday (Nov. 7). The game is set to start at 7:30 p.m. CST at the McClimon Soccer Complex in Madison, Wis.
