Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On the game and the third-period comeback ... "The comeback was the best part of the weekend, I thought. We won a close game last night. We got ourselves in a hole tonight and then had a great third period. But for a couple of goal posts and with a little bit of luck, we could have won this game. It was one of our best periods in recent games. We've got to build on that."
On changes made in the third period ... "We put (Eric) Werner back on defense and went with three lines up front. We spotted players here and there, but for the most part we probably played our best period when we needed to and got a couple of goals. It was a good period for us. We didn't win, but you feel good about the way we played in the third period."
On the comeback ... "That was huge. I thought we were playing better than the score. Our team needed to (come back); you have no choice. There is no next week. This is the last game of the first half and both teams were just laying it on the line. We got the momentum once we got that second goal and just couldn't bury them."
U-M Junior Forward Eric Nystrom
On the win ... "They came out and gave us everything they had in the first period. That is to be expected of this team, especially after losing Friday night in their own building. On a Saturday night with the chance to split the weekend, they came out flying. We were a little slow in the first period, but responded in the second and third."
On staying focused despite the deficit ... "That power-play goal in the second really helped our team. It's been a long time since we got one and it felt good. They got a couple quick goals back but we never let ourselves get out of the game. We stayed mentally focused and stayed on them with the forecheck."
On his "non-traditional" type of power-play goal ... "We'll take any type of power-play goal right now."
On the comeback ... "This Nebraska-Omaha team is underestimated. They play hard. They battle. It's not easy to come back against a team like that. It took a team effort, and that is the type of hockey we need to play in order to have a chance of winning the CCHA and even get further past that. We have to battle hard, make simple plays and drive the puck to the net."
On the first half of hockey this season ... "(It was) a little up and down. I don't think we've played our best but there has been glimpses of how good a team we can be. If we can play hard 60 minutes every night, we should give ourselves a good chance to win."
