ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan Athletic Department, working in conjunction with the Michigan Student Assembly, has announced a contest to design a "season" T-shirt for the upcoming 2003 Michigan football season. Entries for this contest, open to currently enrolled U-M students, will be accepted immediately with the submission deadline being Friday, Feb. 21, at 5 p.m.

Submissions must be original four-color designs for the front and back of a maize short-sleeve T-shirt. Entries may not contain commercialism or sponsorships. A panel of athletic department and university officials will select a winning design and announce the winner in late February. The winner of the design contest will receive two 2003 season football tickets and the opportunity to join current U-M athletes by holding the Go Blue Banner at the season opener vs. Central Michigan (Aug. 30). An entry form and more detailed instructions are available at MGoBlue.com.
Students wanting to show their support of the Michigan football team will have the opportunity to pre-purchase a T-shirt on their football season ticket application for a discounted price (deadline for student ticket orders is March 12). The student price will be available only during the pre-sale. Shirts will also be available to students and the general public in mid-August at locations to be determined and online at MGoBlue.com. Details on prices, availability and other retail locations will be announced later.
After posting a 10-3 season and a victory in the 2003 Outback Bowl, the Michigan football team will open the 2003 season against Central Michigan on Aug. 30. The Wolverines will play seven home games, including a matchup against Notre Dame (Sept. 13) and the historic 100th meeting with Ohio State (Nov. 22).
Questions and submissions should be directed to director of marketing Tom Brooks at (734) 647-3835.
