This is the second regional-level Coach of the Year honor of Henry's 19-year career. In 1993 he earned NCAA District IV Track and Field Coach of the Year honors after leading his Wolverines to their first Big Ten Conference outdoor team title in program history.
In Henry's 19 years at the helm of the women's track and field team the Wolverines have won nine Big Ten team championships, and he led Michigan to a program best fifth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships in 1998. Under his guidance the Maize and Blue accomplished the season sweep of Big Ten hardware with both indoor and outdoor team titles on three occasions, in 1994, 1998 and 2002.
Henry has seven athletes scheduled to compete at this weekend's NCAA Indoor Championships at Arkansas' Randal Tyson Track Center. All seven will be in action Friday (March 14), with redshirt freshman Stephanie Linz (Okemos, Mich./Okemos HS) beginning the Wolverines' action at the national meet when the high jump gets underway at 1:30 p.m. CST.
