Michigan (30-9-3, 18-7-3 CCHA)
Michigan is the only team to advance to the Frozen Four in each of the last three seasons. A semifinalist in each of the last two years, the Wolverines have been to the Frozen Four on an NCAA-record 22 occasions.
The Wolverines own an all-time record of 5-1 against the Tigers in the NCAA Tournament and had not faced CC since the 1996 NCAA championship game when U-M downed the Tigers by a 3-2 margin.
Michigan is unbeaten in its last nine games, sporting a 7-0-2 record. The unbeaten streak is tied for the longest for the Michigan squad this season. U-M posted an 8-0-1 record from Oct. 18-Nov. 22.
The Wolverines have advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four each time they have hosted a regional. U-M has hosted the eventual NCAA champion each of the last two times it has staged an NCAA event prior to 2003.
Michigan owns an all-time record of 9-1 at Yost Ice Arena in the NCAA Tournament, including a 6-0 mark since the NCAA went to a regional format.
The Wolverines are unbeaten in the month of March, sporting a 7-0-2 record. March is the only month U-M has not suffered a loss.
The No. 3 seed Wolverines join three No. 1 seeds (Cornell, Minnesota and New Hampshire) in the NCAA Frozen Four in Buffalo, N.Y. Michigan will play Minnesota in the semifinals at 6 p.m. April 10.
Sophomore Eric Nystrom scored the first goal in each of U-M's Midwest Regional games. U-M is 11-2-1 when Nystrom scores a goal. He's scored 10 of his 15 goals in the second half of the season.
Senior forward Mark Mink picked up a helper on Nystrom's goal to tie his career high for assists set as a sophomore (14).
Senior forward Jed Ortmeyer, who was named to the All-Midwest Regional Team, was a member of the 2002 All-West Regional Team.
