Wolverines Have Win Streak Snapped by Fighting Irish

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team had its two-match winning streak snapped Thursday (March 6), falling to No. 46 Notre Dame at the Eck Tennis Pavilion. The Wolverines (5-5) only managed two wins in singles action after surrendering the doubles point to Notre Dame to begin the match.

In singles competition, Notre Dame posted wins in four of six matches to clinch the team victory. Sophomores David Anving (Tvaaker, Sweden/Varbergs Gymnasieskola) and Rubin claimed U-M's only two singles wins, improving their dual match records to a team-best 8-2. Anving posted a 7-5, 6-3 win over Brian Farrell at No. 4, while Rubin upset No. 88-ranked Luis Haddock 7-6(4), 6-1 at No. 1.
The Wolverines open the Big Ten Conference schedule next Saturday (March 15) when they return home to the Varsity Tennis Center for a noon match with No. 22 Ohio State.
