ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan Athletic Department announced today (March 8) the winning design for the inaugural season shirt to be worn during 2003 Wolverine football games. David Porter, a junior majoring in industrial design/graphic design in the School of Art and Design, created the winning design depicting the tradition and success of Michigan football.
Porter's design was selected from a group of approximately 50 submissions. University of Michigan Athletic Director Bill Martin, head football coach Lloyd Carr, a panel of student leaders from the Michigan Student Assembly and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, members of last season's Blue Out committee and an athletic department committee voted on the designs.
Students can order the season shirt for $10 with their season ticket application. The deadline for placing student season ticket orders is Friday, March 21. The shirt also can be purchased for $15 by the general public beginning in August at all M-Den locations. Additionally, orders may be placed in advance through the MDen.com website.
