MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Behind of pair of second-half goals, the University of Michigan men's soccer team earned its fifth victory of the season as the Wolverines downed South Florida 2-0 Sunday afternoon (Sept. 21) at the Marquette Invitational. Midfielders Mike White (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS) and Knox Cameron (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman HS) provided the goals, while Joe Zawacki (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS) and Peter Dzubay (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview HS) combined for U-M's fourth shutout of the 2003.
With the game still scoreless late in the second half, White netted his second goal of the weekend when he sent a 16-yard bullet to the upper left corner to give the Wolverines a 1-0 advantage at 76:31.
The Wolverines continued to ride the monentum of White's goal as the defense stifled the Bulls attack while the Michigan offense continued to provide scoring opprotunities.
Following a deflected shot in the Bulls end, U-M was awarded a pentaty kick to the left corner of the field. Sophomore Adam Bruh (Roslyn Heights, N.Y./Wheatley HS) set the ball up and served a high curving lob into the USF goal box, allowing the Wolverines to use their size to their advantage. Cameron, who stands 6-3, was able to sky above the USF defense and blow a hard header past the Bull keeper for a 2-0 Wolverine lead with 8:30 remaining in the match.
Zawacki started his first match of the season but needed to come out of the game 25 minutes in as he took a cleat to the head and required stitches. Returning to the game in the second half, Zawacki made two saves en route to his first win since the Wolverines defeated Evansville 6-2 on Sept. 27, 2002.
Michigan continues its road swing as the Wolverines face Bowling Green at 3:30 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 28) on Mickey Cochrane Field in Bowling Green, Ohio.

QUOTES
Michigan Head Coach Steve Burns
On the game ... "It was a good performance from our guys. South Florida was a team that matched up well with us. They have some very mobile players in the back two-thirds of the field. Once we got our first goal by Mike White we were able to ride that momentum for the shutout."
On not having a game until next Sunday ... "We have been road warriors the past two weeks. We went to North Carolina last weekend and are in Milwaukee now, plus we started the year in East Lansing. It is going to be nice to be able to have a nice, long, hard week of training. We have seen some things that we need to work on and we will be able to do that this week."
On Dawson Stellberger ... "Dawson played a very solid two games for us. He has been a very reliable commodity in the backfield for us all year."
NOTES
• Knox Cameron, Kevin Taylor and Mychal Turpin were selected to the all-tournament team as the trio helped the Wolverines finish second with a 1-1 record on the weekend.
• It marked Joe Zawacki's first start in goal since Oct. 13, 2002
