Willis Paces U-M to Fourth at Great American Festival

CARY, N.C. -- The No. 6 University of Michigan men's cross country team claimed fourth place with 145 points in its 22-team division at the Great American Cross Country Festival on Friday (Sept. 26). Making his season debut in the 8,000-meter event, sophomore Nick Willis (Lower Hutt, New Zealand/Hutt Valley HS) paced the Wolverines, crossing the line in fifth place with a time of 25:54.7.
Senior Tom Greenless (Milford, Mich./Milford HS) continued his streak of standout performances, crossing the line in the 15th spot at 26:13.3. Fifth-year senior Alex L'Heureux (Weedon, Quebec/Palm Beach Gardens HS) finished 26th with a time of 26:24.8 and junior Nate Brannen (Cambridge, Ontario/Preston HS) finished in the 36th position at 26:33.3. While running in Michigan's fifth position, sophomore Sean Moore (Saline, Mich./Saline HS) was forced to drop out of the race, causing the Wolverines to score senior Tarn Leach's (East Jordan, Mich./East Jordan HS) 63rd-place finish (27:15.4).
