ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Junior/sophomore Laura Brosius (Saline, Mich./Saline HS) posted a second-place finish (14:14) as the University of Michigan women's cross country team took second place in the four-kilometer race at the Michigan Intercollegiate Friday afternoon (Oct. 8) at Rolling Hills Golf Course. The top four individuals scored for each team, with the Wolverines (39 points) finishing behind host Grand Valley State (20).
Senior/junior Chelsea Homan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson HS) took eighth (14:29), sophomore/freshman Laura Glynn (Farmington Hills, Mich./Harrison HS) placed ninth (14:29), and sophomore/freshman Kalli Williams (Dexter, Mich./Dexter HS) closed out the U-M scoring with a 20th-place finish in 14:53.
Rounding out the U-M runners in the 4K division were senior Erika Flannery (Perry, Mich./Perry HS) in 34th (15:10), senior/junior Jessica Wagner (Toledo, Ohio/Notre Dame) in 36th (15:13) and junior/sophomore Jentry Soule (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven HS) in 42nd (15:15).
Michigan also entered two runners in the 6K race, with junior/sophomore Amy Baker (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron HS) placing 8th (23:02) and senior/junior Emily Anderson (Marquette, Mich./Marquette HS) taking 23rd (23:53), and seven Wolverines ran unattached in the mixed (men and women) open 5K race.
The third-ranked Wolverines travel to Terre Haute, Ind., for the NCAA Pre-Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 16.
