PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Junior Lori Hillman (Gibbsboro, N.J./Eastern Regional HS) of the University of Michigan field hockey team claimed the season's final Big Ten Conference Denfensive Player of the Week award on Monday (Nov. 1) in recognition of her performance in the Wolverines' 1-0 victory against No. 19 Penn State over the weekend. During the 2004 season, the Wolverines claimed two defensive weekly honors as well as a pair of offensive awards. Hillman joins senior Katy Moyneur (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual HS), who earned the defensive recognition last week, on the defensive side, while senior Jessica Blake (Perth, Western Australia/St. Mary's Anglican) nabbed back-to-back offensive weekly honors earlier in the season.
Hillman and the top-seeded Wolverines will face the winner of the Penn State/Ohio State match at 11 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 6) in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament in Evanston, Ill. The second semifinal game will pit the winners of Iowa/Northwestern and Michigan State/Indiana, and all games will be held at Northwestern's Leonard B. Thomas Sports Complex.
