Heaton Receives CoSIDA Academic All-District Honor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Junior Therese Heaton (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South HS) of the University of Michigan women's soccer team was selected to the Academic All-District IV second team by the College Sports Information Directors of America today (Thursday, Nov. 4). To be nominated for the Academic All-America team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore starter or significant reserve on her team with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average. Heaton is enrolled in the School of Education, majoring in elementary education.
Heaton has started at forward in all 19 of Michigan's games this season and leads the team with 20 points on eight goals and four assists. Earlier this season, Heaton scored at least one goal in six straight games between Aug. 29 and Sept. 17.
This marks the second time that Heaton has been honored by CoSIDA for her achievements on and off the field, as she was named to the Academic All-District IV third team in 2003.
The Wolverines square off against No. 25 Wisconsin in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals tonight (Thursday, Nov. 4). Game time is set for 7:30 EST at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
