Host Michigan Seeded No. 7 in Big Ten Championship

PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- The Big Ten Conference announced today (Sunday, Nov. 7) that the University of Michigan men's soccer team will be the No. 7 seed when it hosts the Big Ten Men's Soccer Championship on Nov. 11-14. The Wolverines will face No. 2 seed Ohio State in the first round on Thursday (Nov. 11) at 2:30 p.m. at the U-M Soccer Field. Michigan lost to Ohio State in a 2-0 decision in the regular-season finale on Saturday (Nov. 6) in Ann Arbor.
The Indiana Hoosiers earned a first-round bye as the No. 1 seed for the ninth straight year with a 5-1-0 mark in conference play. No. 2 Ohio State also posted a 5-1-0 Big Ten record followed by No. 3 Northwestern at 3-2-1. The Wildcats will face No. 6 Penn State (1-3-2 Big Ten) on Thursday at 11:45 a.m. The field is rounded out by No. 4 Wisconsin (2-4-0 Big Ten) and No. 5 Michigan State (2-4-0 Big Ten), which will square off on Thursday at 9 a.m. in the opening round.
The Wolverines will be fighting for the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament that goes to the winner of the Big Ten Championship. Michigan is 9-6-4 this season with a 1-4-1 record in Big Ten play.
