Turpin Earns All-Great Lakes Region First Team Honors

MISSION, Kan. -- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced today (Tuesday, Dec. 14) that University of Michigan senior forward Mychal Turpin (Pontiac, Mich./University of Detroit Jesuit HS) has been named to the All-Great Lakes Region first team. For Turpin, this is the first time he has earned first-team all-region honors after being selected to the second team in 2003 and the third team in 2001 and 2002.
Turpin led the Wolverines with 17 points in 2004 on six goals and five assists. In his four years at Michigan, Turpin set a number of career records with 85 points, 33 goals, 163 shots and 91 shots on goal. His 19 career assists are also good for second on Michigan's all-time list.
Turpin helped to lead Michigan to an 11-8-4 overall record this season and a 1-4-1 mark in Big Ten Conference play. The Wolverines advanced to the second round of the NCAA College Cup before being eliminated from the tournament and finished the season ranked 23rd in the nation.
