ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Major League Soccer announced today (Thursday, Dec. 2) that University of Michigan seniors Knox Cameron (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman HS) and Mychal Turpin (Pontiac, Mich./University of Detroit Jesuit HS) have been invited to the MLS Player Combine on Jan. 8-11 at the Home Depot Center in Carson Calif. The four-day event gives players a chance to showcase their talents for coaches and general managers of all 12 MLS teams and is a precursor to the MLS SuperDraft on Feb. 14.
Cameron, a preseason All-American and 2004 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy candidate, missed the majority of the 2004 season due to injury. He returned to the Wolverine lineup late in the season and helped lead Michigan into the second round of the NCAA College Cup with three points on one goal and an assist. For his career, Cameron is the second on U-M's all-time scoring list with 72 points on 28 goals and 16 assists. He is also second on Michigan career goals list.
In 2004, Turpin earned second-team All-Big Ten Conference honors while leading Michigan with 17 points on six goals and five assists. Turpin ended his career at Michigan having missed only one game and as the leading scorer all-time for the Wolverines. In his career, Turpin compiled 85 career points on 33 goals and 19 assists. His 33 goals are also a career record at Michigan and his 19 assists place him second on that career list.
