Michigan swept Notre Dame for the first time since Oct. 7-8, 1999, when the Wolverines did it in South Bend. There were three weekend series in between sweeps.
U-M's five power-play goals are a season high. It was the fourth time this season that U-M had multiple power-play tallies (3, Oct. 21 at LSSU; 4, Nov. 5 vs. Miami; 2, Dec. 3 vs. Notre Dame). The last time the Wolverines had five power-play tallies was when they had seven on Oct. 15, 1999, against Massachusetts-Lowell.
U-M's eight goals were a season high, eclipsing the seven it scored against Boston University on Oct. 9. The last time U-M had eight goals was in an 8-5 win over Miami on Feb. 14, 2003.
The last time U-M won by an eight-goal margin was on Nov. 17, 2000, when it beat Alaska Fairbanks 8-0 at Yost Ice Arena.
Al Montoya picked up his second shutout of the season and the 12th of his career. His other blanking this season came on Oct. 29 vs. Ferris State. Marty Turco (1995-98) has the U-M career record with 15.
Eric Werner has points in three straight games (2-1-3) with his power-play goal tonight. He had an assist at Wisconsin (Nov. 27) and had the game-winner on Friday (Dec. 3) vs. ND. Additionally, he has points in seven of the last eight games (3-4-7). He had zero points at Minnesota (Nov. 26).
Brandon Rogers tied a career high with three assists. He had achieved the mark on two previous occasions, most recently on Jan. 11, 2003, at Western Michigan. He has two multi-point games this season and 15 for his career.
Rogers also earned a point in back-to-back games for the first time this season. He had a power-play goal on Friday (Dec. 3) and then added three helpers tonight.
With one score in each game this weekend vs. the Irish, T.J. Hensick has a goal in back-to-back games for the second time this season. With an assist later in the game Hensick earned his fifth multi-point game of the year and 17th of his career.
Kevin Porter recorded a career-high four points on two goals and two assists. It was also his second career multi-point game.
Chad Kolarik scored his team-leading fourth power-play marker of the season. Paired with last night's goal, he has tallies in back-to-back games for the first time in his career.
Kolarik had a career-high three points on one goal and two assists. It was his second career multi-point game.
Jeff Tambellini had two goals tonight for his third multi-goal game of the season and the fifth multi-point game of the season. He has 25 career multi-point games.
