ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan ice hockey program hopes to have the Yost Ice Arena playing surface littered with furry objects during the first intermission Friday (Dec. 10) when the fourth-ranked Wolverines host Bowling Green at 7:35 p.m.
In conjunction with the Dekers Blue Line Club, U-M will conduct the inaugural Teddy Bear Toss to benefit C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. All fans are encouraged to bring a new teddy bear to playfully toss on the playing surface at the start of the first intermission.
Members of the Dekers Club will collect the bears for later distribution to patients at Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor.
"We hope this event will become a special Michigan Hockey tradition" said assistant athletics director Tom Brooks. "The Teddy Bear Toss is a fun example of our support for the kids at C.S. Mott Hospital."
Friday's game is the final home contest prior to the start of the holiday season, and U-M's last home contest until Jan. 7 against Western Michigan. The Wolverines (11-4-1, 9-1-0 CCHA) are in second place in the CCHA with 18 points, while the Falcons (8-4-2, 5-3-2 CCHA) are in fourth place with 12 points.
