Wolverines Place Six in Top 10 at Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The No. 7 University of Michigan women's cross country team received six top-10 performances at the Spartan Invitational Friday afternoon (Sept. 17) at Forest Akers East Golf Course, dominating the 148-woman field at the non-scoring event hosted by Michigan State.
For the second consecutive week and the seventh meet in a row, the Wolverines were paced by junior Rebecca Walter (Beverly Hills, Mich./Groves HS), who finished second with a time of 21:13 on the 6,000-meter course. Close on her heels was senior Sarah Pizzo (Golden, Colo./Mullen HS) in 21:19, third overall.
Other top U-M performances came from senior Andrea Parker (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson HS), who placed fifth (21:31); sophomore/freshman Jackie Gaydos (Allen Park, Mich./Allen Park HS), who took sixth (21:51); junior/sophomore Katie Erdman (Cadillac, Mich./Cadillac HS), who crossed the line eighth (21:54); and senior/junior Theresa Feldkamp (Lorain, Ohio/Amherst Steele HS), who secured 10th (22:03).
The Wolverines will take a week off from competition before returning to the trails on Friday, Oct. 1, for the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. The 6,000-meter race is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. EST/CDT.
