Artsis Named Conference Offensive Player of the Week

PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Freshman midfielder Jamie Artsis (Chatsworth, Calif./Harvard-Westlake School) of the University of Michigan women's soccer team was named the Big Ten Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday (Sept. 27). Artsis earned her first career conference accolade after exploding for seven points in the Wolverines' two Big Ten road victories last weekend. She is the first U-M player since 2002 to be selected as the league's best offensive performer of the week.

Artsis and Wolverines (7-2-1, 4-0 Big Ten) return to action this weekend when they host Penn State on Friday (Oct. 1) and Ohio State on Sunday (Oct. 3) at the U-M Soccer Field. The game against the Nittany Lions is set to begin at 4 p.m., while the match against the Buckeyes is slated for a noon start.
