Michigan Head Coach Lloyd Carr
Opening statement ... "I think you give Texas, especially Vince Young, credit. I think we did a lot of great things in that game. I think we did a good of job as we have done all season. I think offensively we played well enough, although we did have a couple of opportunities that we let get away, particularly early in the game (in the first half). Defensively we missed too many tackles. You score 37 points and it should be enough, but it wasn't and you give Texas credit for that. We don't have any excuses, we are disappointed."
On the kickoff return team ... "I thought we did a tremendous job. Our kickoff return team gave us great field position all day long and I think the credit goes to a lot of those guys who opened up holes. Of course, Steve (Breaston) is a great athlete. He caught a touchdown pass in the third quarter. It was a team effort and certainly gave us good field position."
On Braylon Edwards ... "I think he has had an All-American year. There is no question he is one of those guys that deserved all of the awards that he won. He was a great football player on the field. He was a great leader on our team. I am very very proud of him and he has been a great person off the field, a great representative of the University of Michigan, and that goes back since the day he came here."
Sophomore Defensive End LaMarr Woodley
On Michigan's defense ... "You are really disappointed. You find mistakes when you go back and watch video that shouldn't have happened. Big plays shouldn't happen. I think our tackling was poor. When Vince (Young) ran we had him wrapped up back there and he broke free."
Senior Wide Receiver Braylon Edwards
On losing his last game ... "Texas played a hell of a game. It was an honor to play a team like Texas and a coach like Mack Brown who has so much class. Vince Young, Cedric Benson and Derrick Johnson are extraordinary athletes. To go out with a loss against a team of that caliber, it hurts in my heart, but at the same time my team played as hard as they could. We left everything on the field and if there was a minute left in the game, I don't think our team could have done any better. We gave so much. It's a tough loss, but it is a springboard for the future."
On the records he broke ... "They will eventually mean something down the road, but at this moment, right now, no, they do not mean a lot. The only thing I wanted to do was win this ballgame. The guys on the team talked about making sacrifices; we didn't care about what the statistics were, we just wanted a 'W' at the end of the game. It did not happen, so right now I can't think about those."
Junior Wide Receiver Steve Breaston
On his health ... "It was the best I felt. We had a longer period, we had over a month. During the course of the season it was week in, week out. I felt good and I think it showed today."
On watching the defense from the sideline ... "It is frustrating sometimes, but our defense played well all season. They made plays and we didn't make the plays. What it really came down to was who made the best play."
Senior Cornerback Marlin Jackson
On Michigan's defense in the end of the game ... "We just didn't do a good job of tackling. We had them third-and-11 on the 12-yard line. Three guys had a chance to get him and we just didn't get him on the ground."
