2005 FBL at Iowa -- Postgame Notes

Michigan ended a pair of Iowa home winning streaks with the victory: 22-game home winning streak and a 15-game Big Ten home winning streak. The Hawkeyes' last loss at Kinnick Stadium in conference play was a 32-26 setback against the Wolverines on Oct. 27, 2001.
Lloyd Carr claimed his 100th victory as Michigan head coach (100-32) and joined Fielding H. Yost and Bo Schembechler as the only Wolverine coaches to eclipse the 100-win plateau.

Junior tailback Jerome Jackson scored the game-winning overtime touchdown on a one-yard run on third-and-goal. It was Jackson's first career game-winning touchdown.
Jackson carried the ball a season-high 11 times for 44 yards, with all the plays coming during the fourth quarter or overtime.
Michigan improved to 5-0 all-time in overtime games and is 2-0 this season, with both victories coming on the road.
The victory provided Michigan with its first back-to-back wins of the season.
Sophomore quarterback Chad Henne tossed a pair of touchdown passes at Iowa, gaining his 40 career touchdown pass on the 52-yard play to Steve Breaston in the fourth quarter.
Henne completed 14-of-21 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns. He has thrown for 200 yards in six of his eight games this season.
Senior wide receiver Jason Avant caught a team-leading seven passes for 105 yards and one TD at Iowa, surpassing the 100-yard barrier for the third time this season.
With his 18-yard catch in overtime, Jason Avant became the 10th receiver in Michigan history to gain 2,000 career receiving yards. Avant has 2,009 career yards and sits in 10th place on the Wolverines' career yardage list.
Senior Steve Breaston scored the longest receiving touchdown of his career at Iowa, a 52-yard catch-and-run at 8:51 of the fourth quarter, giving Michigan its first lead of the game (17-14). Breaston caught two passes for 62 yards in the game.
Freshman tailback Kevin Grady led the rushing attack with 18 carries for 62 yards. Grady rushed 12 times for 49 yards in the first half.
Fifth-year senior left tackle Adam Stenavich made his team-leading 35th career start in the Iowa game.
Junior right tackle Jake Long made his season debut at Iowa at the outset of the Wolverines' second-quarter touchdown drive and almost the entire second half/overtime at right tackle. Long was injured during fall camp and missed every game to this point.
Fifth-year senior cornerback Grant Mason led the Wolverine defense with 12 tackles in the game, his second straight double-digit tackle game and the third of the season.
Junior outside linebacker Prescott Burgess recorded a career-high 11 tackles against Iowa, including one tackle for loss and one sack.
Senior rush linebacker Pierre Woods served as Michigan's special teams captain against Iowa.
Woods contributed a season-best four stops against Iowa, all the first half. Two of his tackles were for loss including one sack. He also pressured Iowa's Drew Tate into an intentional grounding pass when Tate was trying to avoid a sack. Woods started the game at Iowa for an injured LaMarr Woodley.
Sophomore inside linebacker John Thompson tallied a career-best eight tackles against Iowa, including a team-leading three tackles for loss.
Freshman safety Brandon Harrison picked up his first career interception in the third quarter and returned it 11 yards to Iowa's 42-yard line. Harrison made a career-best eight stops.
Senior inside linebacker David Harris made his first career field-goal block, getting a hand on Iowa kicker Kyle Schlicher's 41-yard attempt during the third quarter. Harris finished the game with tackles.
Sophomore tailback Mike Hart was injured during the opening series of the game and did not play during the final three quarters. He rushed five times for 17 yards in first quarter.
Hart's first carry of the game, a six-yard run on the opening series, was the 400th of his career.
