Smith Earns Big Ten Swimmer of the Week Recognition

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Junior Lindsey Smith (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) of the University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team has been named Big Ten Conference co-Swimmer of the Week for her accomplishments against Purdue and Ohio State this past Friday (Nov. 11). Smith took first in all four events in which she participated, surpassing three NCAA 'B' standard times. She shares the award with Sarah Haupt of Penn State.

In the ninth event of the day, Smith clocked in at 50.97 in the 100-yard freestyle, surpassing another NCAA 'B' standard for her third top finish of the day. Smith finished off the meet swimming anchor on the first-place 400-yard freestyle relay team that clocked in at 3:24.44. Her 49.95 split was the quickest of the U-M quartet.
This is Smith's first Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award of her career.
