Cogliano Receives CCHA Rookie of the Week Award

FARMINGTON HIILLS, Mich. -- The Central Collegiate Hockey Association announced today (Monday, Nov. 7) that freshman forward Andrew Cogliano (Woodbridge, Ontario) of the University of Michigan ice hockey team received the CCHA's Rookie of the Week award.

Currently on a six-game scoring streak, Cogliano has seven goals and eight assists over the last half dozen contests. In five of the games he has earned multiple points. His 15 points this season place him first in the nation among freshmen. His seven goals tie him for first on Michigan and his 15 points are second-best for U-M.
Cogliano is the second Wolverine to earn CCHA Rookie of the Week honors, joining Oct. 10 honoree Jack Johnson (Ann Arbor, Mich.). U-M also has two CCHA Defenseman of the Week award winners this season: Matt Hunwick (Sterling Heights, Mich.) on Oct. 10 and Johnson on Oct. 17.
No. 2-ranked Michigan travels to Marquette, Mich., to take on Northern Michigan this Friday and Saturday (Nov. 11-12).
