Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson
On tonight's game ... "I think we made our chances count. They came out and stormed us early in the game and got the goal. It was good that we kept our composure and kept working them and made our chances count. When you look at the goals, some of them were the result of hard work, while others were opportunistic. You get a shorthanded goal, a power-play goal, a lot of hard-work goals, which we have not been getting. (Jason) Bailey got two of them, and good for him. That line came to work this weekend -- Bailey, (Andrew) Ebbett and (Brandon) Kaleniecki -- they had to play against Parse, Marshalls and Thomas, certainly one of the best offensive lines in the country. I thought they played them head to head, and then when the smoke cleared, Ebbett had two goals, Kaleniecki had two goals, and Bailey had two goals. So that is a pretty good weekend for a so-called checking line. Even though we gave up more goals than we wanted, we got them back. It is nice to see the puck go in the net."
On getting four points this weekend ... "It was big. We had to rebound. You hate to go home for Christmas, and now we have finals and we have a break coming up until the GLI. You hate to go home with a sour taste in your mouth, and this was a real good bounce-back weekend for our team and for a lot of individuals."
On the play of Jason Bailey ... "I think he is figuring it out. He is a physical player, he has good speed, he has a good work ethic, and he just needs to put that to work in the right way, and I think you are seeing that now. I think that playing with a couple of veteran players really helped him."
U-M Freshman Forward Jason Bailey
On the physicality of tonight's game ... "It was getting a little rough, but I think we kept our cool for the most part. We did a good job and finished it of with a big win. We're happy."
On his two goals for the night ... "Obviously, it was a little nerve-wracking waiting for the referee to signal what the call was. I definitely got a little lucky on those goals. I think (Brandon) Kaleniecki, (Andrew) Ebbett and I worked pretty hard down low. When you throw things at the net, you get a little lucky, and it just went in for us tonight."
U-M Senior Forward Andrew Ebbett
On the importance of this weekend's sweep of UNO ... "This is huge for us. We've got three games in hand over the rest of the league and that was two of them right there. We got four points this weekend, and now we're back in the league race. I thought that was a huge way to finish off the first half. It gives us something to build on after Christmas."
U-M Senior Forward Brandon Kaleniecki
On the production of his line ... "It's about right. I'm not going to kid anyone here, we got lucky on a couple of them. It's funny how things work. When you're checking well and doing what you're supposed to, sometimes the puck starts to bounce your way. I think that's what happened this weekend."
On playing against UNO's top scoring line ... "Obviously, we had their top line and we were out there to shut them down. But when you have a line as offensive as they are, they tend to give you some chances too, and we were able to take advantage of those."
