Michigan Head Coach Cheryl Burnett
Opening statement ... "This was definitely a game that shows what our weaknesses are. I really thought Nebraska did a great job offensively at isolating players that they thought they could take off the dribble and certain post players that they could really isolate their post game and take it at them. Earlier in the game when they were in their 3-2 (zone) we struggled at moving the basketball. We've seen a 3-2 zone many times this season. We stayed in there in the first half, and we were close enough. I felt like the second half would be dependant on a couple of things: our ability to defend their post and the ability for us to get the basketball to our post against the 3-2."
On going against the 3-2 zone ... "Different zones cover different people at different times. We feel that against the 3-2 we have to make the reversal down pass. Nebraska made it really difficult to make that down pass so that we could isolate our post. We needed to hit a couple of outside shots to widen the zone and get the basketball in. I didn't think we adjusted really well to what they were doing. You've got to hit the gaps in the zone, and our perimeter started standing by their defenders. There are some adjustments we need to make."
