Michigan Head Coach Cheryl Burnett
On Michigan's production in the post ... "We got the ball inside, and in the past we have gone through a couple of games where our post players did not see the basketball much. I am one of those coaches where you have to go inside to out, and that also helps to give everybody a lot of confidence."
On sophomore Krista Clement ... "It speaks volumes that the team elected her captain as a non-starter. She has been such a great communicator and understands what we want to execute. She'll bring the group together through her superb communication and leadership skills."
On the turnover margin ... "A couple of players adjusted nicely. We got into a little bit of trouble in the end. We got the ball inside and created some turnovers for ourselves. We made some adjustments to fix the trouble. When you are executing and you know where everyone is supposed to be, you are going to execute much better and that's going to eliminate turnovers."
U-M Sophomore Krista Clement
On building chemistry on the floor ... "[The starters] were playing together for longer than most. It's a confidence thing, and we're really building it towards practice. Right now, I know where Janelle (Cooper) and Ta'Shia (Walker) are going to be. It's really nice to get that confidence, and slowly but surely we're going to get that with everyone on the team."
On what led to the win ... "We met together. It's really amazing what this team has been doing. We just have to get down and take pride. I think that even in the Central Michigan game, we were playing hard and just one thing was missing."
U-M Junior Kelly Helvey
On her career-high 13 rebounds ... "I'm not normally a rebounder in our rotation, but when Janelle (Cooper) and Krista (Clement) are in, I'm the rebounder. So I just knew I had to go up and get them because I knew Maine was going to go up and crash the boards."
On bouncing back from the loss against Central Michigan ... "We had a lot of great practices this week. We really worked on our communication, and that really pushed us through to the end. We kept talking and staying positive and continued to fight to the end."
