ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan Athletic Department announced today (Monday, March 7) the winning design for the third annual football season shirt contest. Alison Yang of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, a junior communications major in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts has won the contest for the second straight year. Her design for the 2005 season, showing two Michigan players hitting the Go Blue banner, was selected from a group of approximately 50 student submissions.
The front side of the blue shirt has a Michigan football helmet with the words "MICHIGAN WOLVERINES 2005 FOOTBALL SEASON" centered across the chest. The back of the shirt depicts two Michigan players hitting the Go Blue banner with a few historical facts about the program (see below). A maize hat with a similar design to the front of the shirt will also be created to accompany the season shirt.
U-M students can order the season shirt for $10 or purchase the hat and shirt combo for $20 with their season ticket application. This special price is only available to U-M students when ordering their season ticket. The deadline for placing student season ticket orders is Friday, March 18.
The season shirt and hat also can be purchased by the general public ($15 apiece/$25 for combo) in advance through the MDen.com website, and will be available for delivery in August.
