REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- Former University of Michigan wide receiver/return specialist Desmond Howard has been selected to appear on the cover of EA Sports NCAA Football 06, the latest college football video game in their long-running series.

Howard became the first receiver in Big Ten history to lead the conference in scoring (138 points in 1991) as he set or tied five NCAA records and 12 U-M single-season records during that season. He finished his career with 134 receptions for 2,146 yards and 32 touchdowns. In the return game, Howard racked up 1,548 yards on 69 returns. He reached the end zone on two kickoff returns and scored his only punt return touchdown on a school-record-setting 93-yard scamper vs. Ohio State that ended by striking the Heisman pose.
Howard won the Heisman by the second-largest margin of victory in the trophy's history; his 640 first place votes (85 percent) were the most ever for a Heisman winner. He was also the Big Ten Conference Athlete of the Year, Associated Press Offensive Player of the Year and the Dunlop Pro-Am Athlete of the Year.
Howard was a first-round NFL draft pick of the Washington Redskins. Later with the Green Bay Packers, he was voted MVP of Super Bowl XXXI. Howard played in one Pro Bowl and received All-NFL honors in 1996.
NCAA Football 06 will be released in July for both the Playstation 2 and Xbox video game systems. The game's official website is www.ncaafootball06.com.
