Season Opener vs. Northern Illinois Picked for Television

PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- The Big Ten Conference announced today (Thursday, June 30) the starting time and television network for the University of Michigan's football game against Northern Illinois. The Wolverines will open the 2005 season against the Huskies on Sept. 3 at 3:30 p.m. EDT in Michigan Stadium, and the game will be broadcast by ABC Sports.
This will be the first meeting between Michigan and Northern Illinois. Michigan currently has a perfect record against Mid-American Conference schools, having claimed victories in all 18 games against members of the conference. U-M coach Lloyd Carr is 8-0 vs. MAC schools, and his teams have scored 30 or more points in each of those games.
The time and television networks for the remaining Big Ten Conference games will be announced at a later date.
