Today's game marked the 120th consecutive televised football game for the Wolverines.
Today's game was head coach Lloyd Carr's 20th career game against Notre Dame. He
owns a record of 8-11-1 against the Fighting Irish and is 3-4 as head coach.
Senior receiver Jason Avant's six-yard catch in the first quarter extended his streak of recording at least one reception in each of the last 25 games he's played.
Jason Avant, who made his 100th career reception on his fourth catch of the day, eclipsed the 1,400-yard receiving mark with five catches for 90 yards against Notre Dame.
Sophomore quarterback Chad Henne eclipsed 3,000 career passing yards on his 17-yard completion to senior tight end Tyler Ecker in the first quarter. Henne has thrown for 3,193 yards in his career.
Henne continued his streak of throwing at least one touchdown pass in every game of his career withhis 25-yard touchdown pass to freshman wide receiver Mario Manningham.
Manningham's 25-yard fourth-quarter touchdown reception came on his first career reception.
Junior linebacker Prescott Burgess reached the 50-tackle mark for his career after recording a career-high eight tackles.
Senior cornerback Darnell Hood represented the Wolverines as the special teams' captain along with offensive captain Jason Avant and defensive captain Pat Massey.
Fifth-year senior guard Matt Lentz started his 27th consecutive game. Lentz is U-M's active leader in consecutive starts.
Fifth-year tackle Adam Stenavich made his 29th career start. Stenavich is Michigan's active leader in career starts.
After pulling down a nine-yard pass in the first quarter, senior receiver Steve Breaston has caught a pass in six consecutive games and in 22 of his last 23 games played.
In his second collegiate game, sophomore receiver Doug Dutch recorded career highs with two receptions and 16 yards. He has caught a pass in both career games played.
Senior tight end Tyler Ecker registered a career-high 74 receiving yards on a career-high seven receptions. His previous high was 38, which he earned last season against Minnesota (Oct. 9, 2004). Ecker also earned a career-best five receptions, surpassing his previous mark of four, recorded last season at Ohio State (Nov. 20, 2004).
Senior receiver Steve Breaston registered a career-long rush on his reverse for 30 yards in the first quarter. He ended the game with a career-high 34 rushing yards on two attempts.
With his 38-yard field goal in the second quarter, junior kicker Garrett Rivas moved into a share of fourth place on Michigan's career field goals list with 31. He tied Ali Haji-Sheikh (1979-82).
Sophomore defensive tackle Will Johnson earned his first career start while senior offensive tackle Rueben Riley recorded his first start of the season, opening the game on the right side.
Sophomore tight end Mike Massey earned his first career reception on a one-yard pass in the second quarter. He concluded the game with two catches for three yards.
Fifth-year senior cornerback Grant Mason had a career-high 16 tackles. His previous career high in tackles was eight last week against Northern Illinois.
Other Wolverines with career highs in tackles included: junior safety Brandent Englemon (6) and sophomore cornerback Morgan Trent (3).
Junior cornerback Leon Hall earned his second career sack in the third quarter. Hall's eight-yard sack came on third down. He collected his third career sack, giving him a career-high two this season, for three yards later in the same quarter. He was named Michigan's ABC Player of the Game.
Junior inside linebacker David Harris made his first start of the season and recorded a career-high eight tackles.
Senior punter Ross Ryan's 56-yard punt is a career long. His 330 yards punting are also a career high.
Freshman tailback Kevin Grady earned a career-high 79 rushing yards on 18 carries, also a career high.
Junior David Harris recorded a forced fumble in the fourth quarter. Senior defensive tackle Gabe Watson earned the recovery on the play.
Senior fullback Brian Thompson made his first catch since the 2004 Rose Bowl against Southern California when he caught one pass for five yards.
