2005 FBL at Wisconsin -- Postgame Notes

Michigan had its 23-game winning streak in Big Ten openers snapped against Wisconsin. The Wolverines last loss in a conference opener was a 21-14 setback to the Badgers on Sept. 12, 1981, when ranked No. 1 in the country.
Head coach Lloyd Carr suffered his first defeat in seven games against the Badgers (6-1).
Carr suffered his first setback in 11 conference openers and lost his first Big Ten game in September (10-1 all-time).
The Big Ten's receiving leader, senior wide receiver Jason Avant made seven receptions for 108 yards and one touchdown.
Avant caught a four-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, reaching the end zone for a team-leading fourth time this season. He has scored in three of the Wolverines four contests and for the sixth time in the past seven games.
Fifth-year senior left tackle Adam Stenavich returned to his home state of Wisconsin and made his team-leading 31st career starting assignment, including his 28th start in the last 29 games.
Fifth-year senior tight end Tim Massaquoi returned to the lineup against Wisconsin after missing the past two games due to injury and started the game in a two-tight end formation.
Sophomore quarterback Chad Henne tied Brian Griese for seventh on Michigan's career passing touchdown list (33).
Henne tossed two touchdowns against the Badgers, extending his streak to 16 consecutive games with a TD pass (every game of his career).
Henne completed 16-of-34 passes for 258 yards with two touchdowns and one interception against Wisconsin.
Henne had an 18-yard career-long run on the team's opening series of the game and converted a third-down play on the series with a seven-yard run.
Sophomore tailback Max Martin led Michigan's running attack with 16 carries for 91 yards against the Badgers. He had 11 carries for 71 yards in the first half, including a 28-yard career long and a 17-yard scamper that led to the final points of the first half.
Junior kicker Garrett Rivas became the 14th player in Michigan history to score 200 career points (200), totaling eight points against the Badgers. Rivas connected field goals from 44 and 28 yards out and hit two PATs.
Fifth-year senior cornerback Grant Mason collected the Wolverines' lone turnover of the game, picking off Stocco to set up the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter. Mason finished the game with six tackles.
Junior inside linebacker David Harris led the Wolverines with nine tackles and two tackles for loss against Wisconsin.
The Wolverine defense picked up a season-high five sacks against Wisconsin, led by sophomore defensive tackle Alan Branch with two stops.
Sophomore wide receiver Mario Manningham had his most productive game as a Wolverine, catching four passes for 106 yards and one touchdown. He scored is TD on a 49-yard flea-flicker from Henne in the fourth quarter, Michigan's longest scoring play of the season.
The Wolverines opening drive of the game that ended on a fourth-and-goal play at the Wisconsin one-yard line was the longest series of the season in terms of plays (17), yards (94) and clock time (7:01).
Junior cornerback Leon Hall contributed two pass breakups against the Badgers, moving into a tie for 10th place on Michigan's career PBU list (19). He registered six stops in the game.
Junior rush linebacker LaMarr Woodley collected his team-leading third sack of the season against the Badgers. Woodley has registered a sack in the Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan and Wisconsin games. Woodley tallied a season-best eight tackles and three TFLs to go along with the sack.
Junior safety Anton Campbell served as the team's special teams captain against Wisconsin.
Junior fullback Will Paul and sophomore kicker K.C. Lopata switched jersey numbers prior to today's game against Wisconsin. Paul switched to jersey #34 from #92 and Lopata moved to #84 from #83.
