PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Junior/sophomore Natasha Luppov (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) of the University of Michigan women's cross country team was named Big Ten Conference Runner of the Week on Tuesday (Oct. 24) for her sixth-place performance at the EMU Classic last Friday (Oct. 20) at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter, Mich.

Luppov recorded a time of 18:28 to set a new personal record on a 5,000-meter course. Though she finished in sixth place, she was the first runner to cross the line who was not running unattached. This was Luppov's second time running at the course this season, as she also participated in the Wolverine Open (Sept. 1). She improved on her previous course time by 1:07. The EMU Classic marked the first race that Luppov led the Wolverines across the finish line.
This is the third Big Ten Runner of the Week honor that has been awarded to a member of the U-M women's cross country team this season. Senior/junior Erin Webster (Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child) was honored the previous two times for her performances at the Indiana Open (Sept. 9) and NCAA Pre-Nationals (Oct. 14).
The Wolverines travel to Bloomington, Ind., to bid for their fifth consecutive Big Ten championship on Sunday (Oct. 29) at 10:45 a.m. Michigan had a preview of the IU Cross Country Championship Course earlier this year with a dominating performance at the Indiana Open.
