Michigan Moves Up to No. 2 in USTFCCCA National Poll

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- After winning the Notre Dame Invitational this past weekend, the University of Michigan women's cross country team moved up in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll, as the Wolverines are now second in the Oct. 3 ranking.
Michigan, which is among seven Big Ten Conference teams in the top 30, received a total of 371 points, one more point than third-place Colorado. Michigan had held the No. 3 spot behind Colorado for the first few weeks of the season. Stanford sits atop the poll with 390 points.
Other ranked Big Ten teams include: No. 8 Iowa (287 points), No. 10 Wisconsin (266), No. 17 Illinois (187), No. 19 Minnesota (143), No. 22 Michigan State (109) and No. 30 Indiana (16).
Michigan opened its 2006 season with two non-scoring events before taking first place in both the Sundodger Invitational and the Notre Dame Invitational. A Wolverine has placed first in all four of the team's races this season, including three victories for senior/junior Erin Webster (Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child).
The Maize and Blue will take a weekend off before heading to Terre Haute, Ind., Saturday, Oct. 14, for the NCAA Pre-Nationals.
