Edwards, Field, Webster Receive Regional Honors

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's cross country team placed three of its athletes on the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Association's All-Regional list. Junior/sophomore Nicole Edwards (Winnipeg, Manitoba/Vincent Massey), fifth-year senior Arianne Field (Kalamazoo, Mich./Hackett) and senior/junior Erin Webster (Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child) were selected to the All-Regional team for their performances at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. To be considered for the All-Region team, athletes must finish in the top 25 of their region and meet NCAA Division I USTFCCA requirements.
Nicole Edwards led the team across the finish line, taking first-place overall with a time of 20:50.91 to win the individual regional championship. Edwards became Michigan's fifth individual regional champion, joining Molly McClimon (1993), Elizabeth Kampfe (1997), Katie McGregor (1998) and Rebecca Walter (2004).
Erin Webster, who won the individual Big Ten championship on Oct. 29, finished in 15th place with a time of 21:45.25. Arianne Field followed shortly thereafter, clocking 21:50.26 to capture 18th place.
The No. 10-ranked Wolverines travel to the NCAA Championships Monday, Nov. 20 in Terre Haute, Ind., to vie for a national championship. The 6,000-meter women's meet at will be held at the Lavern Gibson Championship Course, located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center, and begins at Noon.
