Parke Named Academic All-District

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday (Nov. 2) that University of Michigan junior Michael Parke (Portage, Mich./Portage Central HS) has been named to the Academic All-District IV men's soccer first team. Parke is one of 11 players selected to the team, and the second Wolverine in program history to earn the distinction (Matt Niemeyer, 2004).

Parke has played in 11 of 19 matches for Michigan, and netted his first collegiate goal this season, which proved to be the game-winner, against Northern Illinois (Sept. 1). In his career, Parke earned 2005 Academic All-Big Ten Conference honors, 2005 U-M Athletic Academic Achievement award accolades and was the 2005 Team Jebson Academic Achievement award winner.
After beating Wisconsin, 1-0, in the first round of the Big Ten Championship tournament, Parke and the Wolverines take on the No. 2 seed Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday (Nov. 3) at 7:30 p.m. at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
