Marosevic Earns College Soccer News All-Freshman Honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Freshman Peri Marosevic (Rockford, Ill./Edison Academy) of the University of Michigan mens soccer team was named to the 2006 College Soccer News All-Freshman third team on Tuesday (Dec. 19).

Marosevic, who played in all 19 games with 17 starts, was the first freshman in U-M history to lead the team in points (12) and goals (5). He became the first freshman Wolverine to earn All-Tournament honors in the Michigan Invitational, tallying two goals on the weekend to give the Maize and Blue its second consecutive title in the tournament. Marosevic was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 25; he was the first freshman to receive the weekly honor since Bobby Trybula on Nov. 3, 2003.
Marosevic also stood out in Big Ten Conference play, and was named to the All-Big Ten freshman team along with All-Big Ten second team honors. Marosevic led all Big Ten freshmen in shots (66) and shots per game (3.14).
Marosevic and the Wolverines closed out the 2006 season with a semifinals appearance in the Big Ten Tournament, tying for fifth place overall in the conference.
