N O T E S
With its victory, Central Michigan narrowed the Wolverines' advantage in the all-time series to 18-3, dating back to the 1981-82 season.
Tonight's loss marked Michigan's first loss at home in five matches, dating to last season's home opener when the Wolverines suffered an 18-16 defeat against Nebraska.
Senior/junior Eric Tannenbaum claimed his 90th career win with a 4-0 shutout against Trevor Stewart at 165 pounds. He is just 10 matches shy of joining the Wolverines' prestigious 100-Win Club. Tannenbaum will become its 28th member.

Michigan Head Coach Joe McFarland
On tonight match ... "I have to give Central Michigan a lot of credit. They came into our gym and really took this one from us. They did a nice job; their lightweights did a great job. Those first five guys wrestled really hard against us, and that really set the tone for the match. Obviously, we're pretty disappointed."
On Michigan's performance ... "We didn't wrestle the way we should have wrestled, and that's what I'm really disappointed about. We just didn't compete. Our guys were hesitant, we didn't go out and set the pace, and we weren't taking advantage of scoring opportunites. We made plenty of mistakes, and it was just a little frustrating. But, again, I have to give Central credit because they really wrestled tough. "
On the heavyweight match ... "Omar (Maktabi) really put together a nice match. Unfortunately, it didn't end the way we wanted it to, and he got caught up in that scramble. But I thought up to that point, he competed well and it was a great effort. It ended a little sudden."
U-M Junior/Sophomore Steve Luke
On the Wolverines' shortcomings tonight ... "I just think we all need to be more aggressive, probably me in particular. I stood around too much. That happened in a lot of matches tonight, so I think that will be a main point of emphasis over the next few weeks. The team's conditioning is fine, but we just stood around and played into their game. They tried to get matches by standing around and getting takedowns at the end. But there's no reason for excuses. It's a mental thing, I guess. We just weren't focused."
On his sudden-victory win ... "I needed to get more aggressive. I wasn't taking enough shots, and he wasn't taking any shots. I knew I could take the kid down. Right at the beginning, I shot in and got his leg, but I couldn't finish. I felt fine conditioning-wise. I felt like I could go another 15 matches to tell you the truth."
On Michigan's newcomers to the lineup .. "(Chris) Diehl is doing really well. While he's a true freshman, he's one of the more aggressive guys out there. He showed a great effort through his whole match tonight; he kept after it and stayed really aggressive with hand fighting. It was Justin's (Chrzanowski) first match back, and he had a really tough kid tonight. I know both those guys will be fine."
