Wolverines Send Group to IU Open Last-Chance Meet

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The No. 20-ranked women's swimming and diving team traveled to the University of Indiana to participate in the IU Open on Sunday (Feb. 26) at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center. A selected number of Wolverines made the trip to the last-chance meet as Michigan swam in the morning prelims but did not compete in the afternoon event finals.
In the foursome's final swim before the NCAA Championships, the Big Ten champion Michigan quartet of Kaitlyn Brady (Wilmington, Del./Mount Pleasant), Hannah Smith (Dexter, Mich./Dexter), Abby Seskevics (Grand Haven, Mich./Grand Haven) and Lindsey Smith (Dexter, Mich./Dexter) swam in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing with a top time of 1:32.11.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Noelle Martin (Winston-Salem, N.C./R.J. Reynolds) had Michigan's best finish as she clocked in with a runner-up time of 24.13, while Hannah Smith had the fastest 100-yard backstroke as she swam a time of 57.08 for a first-place finish.
The Michigan divers will continue their preparation to return to Columbus, Ohio, for the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships on March 10-12. Michigan's national qualifiers will train for the NCAA Championships that will be held March 16-18 at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Ga.
