To be eligible, all players must have exhausted their collegiate eligibility and be nominated by their head coach. The players were selected by representatives from the American College Hockey Coaches Association, the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Committee, and the National Youth Sports Corporation. An alternate list has been established in the event that players have to withdraw from the competition due to other commitments, such as their team's participation in the Men's Frozen Four.
Kaleniecki will be on the West squad. He will be accompanied by 2005 Hobey Baker Award winner Marty Sertich (Colorado College), Adam Burish (Wisconsin), Colton Fretter (Michigan State), Gabe Gauthier (Denver), James Shipley (Milwaukee School of Engineering) and goalies Dave Caruso (Ohio State) and Adam Hanna (St. John's).
Through the 2005-06 regular season, Kaleniecki, an alternate captain, has 15 goals and 10 assists over 31 games. His seven power-play markers are tied for the most for Michigan. For his career, Kaleniecki has 62 goals and 34 assists for 96 points in 154 games. His 20 goals in 2003-04 led the Wolverines.
Kaleniecki and the 14th-ranked Wolverines host Ferris State in the CCHA playoffs this weekend (March 10-12) in a best-of-three quarterfinal series. All three games, if necessary, are scheduled for 7:35 p.m. faceoffs at Yost Ice Arena.
